2037.11...On A Higher Plane...Aviators expose themselves

The Wichita Aviators exposed five players to unconditional waivers to get down to their 27 man Opening Day roster today...and lost four of the bums!

First to go was twenty-three year old likely career designated hitter, Jose Ramirez. Ramirez had been recued from the Vancouver 'organization', back in August 2035, but never did enough in Aviator colours to warrant continuing for the Wichita powerhouse.

"Career .800 AAA OPS," scoffed Wichita GM, Genius Hopkins," Yeah, he's just the guy you want to plug and play into first base or designated hitter...that likely .750 OPS will be a game changer. Good luck Boise!"

Next to leave Wichita was reliever Juan Martinez. The thirty-eight year old reliever had been inked by Wichita to a two year, $2.4 million per, contract in the early days of the 2037 silly season.

"Whew...glad to be out of that mistake!" grinned the Genius," Actually...he's not that bad...but all in all, I'm glad he went to Huntsville."

Thirty-three year old Russian pitcher, Viachesli Vasilyev, left Wichita next, moving onto New Orleans.

"He's ok," grinned the Genius," But he's not gonna make or break our roster."

Maxim Makin also was claimed by Boise. The twenty-six year old lefty has a ton of potential and can be a valuable port side arm out of the bullpen.

"I like Maxim," said the Genius," But at the end of the day...he has yet to put it all together...at the Big league or at the AAA level...maybe a fresh organization is just what he needs..."

Thirty year-old knuckleballer, Abe Colbert, went unclaimed by the BBA. Perhaps the steep downward spiral of his career arc coupled with his three year, $8 million per, contract, scared them away.

"Colbert can still eat up a lot of innings for us," smiled the Genius," Maybe he will get his stuff back...somehow, someway...some day..."

Abe Colbert's decline is weird and disappointing.
