The Wichita Aviators announced their inaugural bench coach today, naming thirty-seven year old, Arizona native, Paul 'Bastard' Kratzer to the position.
Kratzer had a long professional career, the majority of it spent in AAA with the Louisville and Valencia organisations. He provided excellent defenced at that level across the entire infield. He spent his lobe season in the majors, the majority of 2024 in Louisville where he backed up second and third base. He was an excellent baserunner and was well respected by all his teammates for his intelligence and work ethic. He was a star shortstop in high school and college and was drafted by both the Carolina (2nd rd, 33rd overall 2015), and Louisville (1st rd, 16th overall 2018) organisations.
"I'm very excited to welcome Paul to Wichita," smiled the Genius," He's been coaching little league in the Phoenix area, chasing his kids around...being a family man since his playing career ended back in 2032...but he's ready to resume his ball career...and I'm happy to have him."
"Its funny how I got my nickname," grimaced Kratzer," I never knew who my father was...my mom raised me by herself...so Genius would always tease me as a young ballplayer in Louisville...calling me 'dumb bastard' and 'hey no dad'...but I finally put two and two together...the Genius was managing in Phoenix about the time I was conceived and born...and my mom always had that framed picture of him on the wall..."
"Paul has always been a good looking guy," grinned the Genius," And you shoulda seen his mom!"
