On a Higher Plane 2035.02...Stadium work begins in Wichita

Post by felipe » Sun May 20, 2018 9:19 am

Wichita Aviators GM Genius Hopkins, announced today where the MBBA expansion franchise, the Wichita Aviators will play in 2035.

"Crews are breaking ground today, in the complete refurbishment of 101 year old Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in the Delano District of Wichita."

"And when I say 'refurbishment', I mean complete and utter tear down and rebuild. We will keep the outside façade as its kind of cool, but all that seating has to be replaced and updated. Even the façade is going to be uprooted and moved fifty meters west into the current parking lot. It was either that, or remove McLean Blvd, (east of the stadium), which would be slightly problematic."

"The current park seats just 6,400 or so, but we're building a park that fits just over 40,000. (40, 165). It will remain true to its roots, in that it will be a grass, open-air field."

"The playing surface will be expanded quite a bit as the outfield corners will get deeper, but the centerfield fence from home plate will stay at its current 401 feet. The playing surface will be flat, with no monuments, hills, or other obstructions in the outfield."

"The stadium will be open in straight away center, (no grandstand there, just lower level bleachers) with a massive fountain behind the lower level bleachers. Hell, we may throw a couple of cannons or some shit up there too."

"We have bought out all the homes and businesses west of the park, from Sycamore Street, all the way west to South Osage street, as far north as West Douglas and as far south as West Maple. Most of this will be parking lot, but we plan on building various boutique bars and shops along the West Douglas and West Maple streets. The more cash we can suck out of customers with other related businesses, the better."

"We have also bought out the Metropolitan Baptist church and the businesses to the west of it, along West Douglas, (just north of our Park), where we will be building a Wichita Aviators hotel and convention complex."

"And when I say 'bought out', I of course mean, harass and threaten and intimidate."

"The new ballpark will officially be called 'Thomas Magnum Field", but of course, will be known to everyone as, 'The House that Genius Built'."

Holy crap. Huntsville, Jacksonville and now this park all in the same division? New Orleans and Nashville better stock up on some lefty bats and arms.

He isn't in my division so I don't care. Also I thought the upper limit was 1.2? how can your HR LHB be 1.289?

Shit

I didn’t realize there were limits;

I just designed an interesting park with the utility;

It spit out the nhmbers for me

Pretty sweet utility actually

We can move out the right field line; I’m not married to it or anything

I’m fine either way. I just went by the rules for stadiums i read for when a team moves or builds a new stadium. If the rules are diff for expansion teams let me know. I’d make my park even tougher on lefties...
