On a Higher Plane 2035.01...The Genius Lands in Wichita
Louisville Genius, GM Hopkins, is no more.
In the worst kept secret in the history of the BBA, The Wichita Aviators confirmed the appointment of Genius Hopkins to the position of GM of their expansion franchise.
The Genius is fresh off of the heels of a Landis Series loss, but is still the widely recognised Dean of all managers in the BBA.
"I'm gonna miss Louisville," smiled the Genius, " But I hear that Kansas is a pretty rocking place. More importantly, I hear that it's a place rife with organised crime. It won't take me long to carve out a big piece of the pie. Midwest gangsters...cowboys with pickup trucks...I'll distract 'em with haystacks and manure."
The Genius has his work cut out for him in Wichita. He has no staff, no ballpark, and no players. He has no farm system. Things are just the way...he likes them.
"It's gonna be nice," grinned the Genius," Everything here will be determined by me. Every logo, every uniform, every coach, every dollar spent will be my decision alone. There is no history of ineptitude here, like there was when I arrived in Louisville. And I turned those long-time losers into the most intimidating club in the league. There wasn't a team, (or their sisters...or their daughters...or their mothers...or their grandmothers) that felt safe...when the Sluggers came to town."
"Every year, I'd look at the free agents left over after the free agent signing period, and I'd say that there was a playoff calibre team left over, just sitting around without contracts. Now, I have a chance to prove it."
"We are going to be relevant in 2035, its the playoffs or bust. None of this being shit for seasons on end."
"I almost feel sorry for Las Vegas, (I always feel sorry for Phoenix, Mexico City, and San Antonio), the JL Sun Belt Division Pennant is going to be in the hands of the Wichita Aviators for a long, long, time."

Exactly the opening salvo we'd expect from The Genius.

Long Beach will be happy to donate some massive talent to Wichita in the expansion draft.

Just a note to highlight the bump of Wichita's TN section up into its proper place above YS. Glump.
