Phoenix, AZ--
Astute Observers of the Discord channel entitled "Completed Trades" may have noticed a certain Talon starting pitcher packing his bags.
In a move that pretty much everyone saw coming, Phoenix SP Takehide Gertrudes was traded to Jacksonville. Gertrudes, who was signed to a 1 year, $10 million deal this past winter, was 4-5 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.35 WHIP for the Talons before the deal was struck. He goes to the Zombies with 30% salary paid.
In return, the Talons are taking back injured LF Pablo Lara (who will never see a Talon at bat) for salary purposes. But the real prize for Phoenix was Thomas Blanchard, the 32nd overall ranked prospect in the BBA. A team source said: "Everyone knows that the phrase 'power hitting outfielder' is like crack cocaine to the Talons front office, so we just had to have him. Then we found out that merely changing his position from DH to LF made his POT rating go from 55 to 65, so that was cool as well."
Go Talons!
