Daytona Beach, FL--
The Talons are here in the Eastern Central Florida Greater Volusia County Regoinal Metropolitan Area to prepare for yet another BBA season, this time replete with myriad questions regarding the team, even down to the club's true talent level.
Even so, it was a mostly routine "drone day", where hundreds of unmanned cargo drones made their AI powered trek through FAA controlled airspace between Phoenix and the Talons' spring training site here in FEMA Region 4. As team officials begain mobilizing for another season, they noticed someone sort of hanging around Jackie Robinson Ballpark. This shady character was seen wandering around the back entrance to the stadium, even as the drones begain lining up and dropping their cargo in the Loading Zone.
Eventually, the person started ambling toward the various shipping clerks and interns who were busy unloading the various manifests. "Anyone need a coach?" the stranger was reported to have said.
Soon enough, the mysterious fellow was directed to the actual front of the stadium, where the offices were located. There, the Talons Reclusive GM, fresh off yet another flight from Tokyo, recognized the interloper.
"There he is!" the GM enthusiastically greeted the outsider. "My man Low-T!"
Once he heard his old nickname, the aloof Irishman knew he was in the right place. "Hey, boss," Tiernan O'Macken said. "You guys need a coach by chance?"
With that, O'Macken was swiftly escorted inside the stadium and immediately made the pitching coach of the rookie league Traverse City Talons. There, he will help mold the next generation of Phoenix pitchers, assuming there are any rated higher than 5/4/5. "I just love hiring these old players," the GM said. "Usually these guys are at rock bottom once they come to me. Then I sign them to a lowball contract to be a coach somewhere. I mean, 25k a year for a coach? What a steal!" the GM said.
As O'Macken was walking toward the locker room, the GM called out to his former player. "Hey, Low-T! Wanna be in the Hall of Fame, too?"
"Sure, why not?" was the reply.
Go Talons!
