2058-005: Talons Offseason Extensions

Yay, another boring Team News article. Let's take a look at the players the club offered extensions to this offseason:

CL Josh Dougherty, 3 yrs/21.5 million
Josh Dougherty's conversion to a full time closer had immediate dividends, as the 19/7/7 monster recorded a career high of almost 2 WAR and 22 saves for the Talons last season. Now he's signed through age 32 and will lead what should be a pretty decent Talons bullpen.

SP Nick Rivers, 3 years/7.5 million
The Talons decided to buy out Rivers' arbitration years, and the Talons first round draftee has shown signs of being a viable starter with further room to grow. Even at last season's 1.5 WAR, it's still a decent deal for a #4 starter.

MIF Ian Patrick Anderson, 1 year/1.1 million
Yes, we know. IPA is not good. He's barely able to play even second base anymore, and he's 41 years old. But, he's the longest tenured Talon with Captain credentials. It's been speculated that IPA has a perma-contract for as long as he wants. But it's not for play on the field necessarily, it's for his leadership. The Talons have literally never had a single clubhouse problem as long as IPA is corralling the troops. Anderson is a shoo-in for a future big league coaching job, all he has to do is give the word.
