Phoenix, AZ--
This was the scene earlier today at the Phoenix area Denny'sTM location at 14799 West Grand Avenue in Surprise, AZ as customers lined up outside the door of the popular Greater Central Arizona Metropolitan AreaTM restaurant chain. The wait for breakfast service was even longer than the usual two and a half hours as cars were seen lined up all the way down to the Circle KTM. Maricopa CountyTM Sheriff Deputies even had to set up an auxiliary parking area at the Hampton Inn and SuitesTM around the block.
Why all the commotion? Leave it to Rob PowersTM and the sleuths over at the Phoenix Sun Times Post DispatchTM (One of Phoenix's Finest NewspapersTM) Sports/Investigative Journalism Division to uncover the ugly truth.
According to numerous sources, including those currently inside the restaurant, it's all part of the new Talons Wait TablesTM promotion happening at various Denny'sTM locations in the region. Every Friday through the end of the season, a well known TalonsTM player will be on hand to wait tables at a random Denny's DinerTM. The location will be kept secret until it is revealed that morning on social media, creating a viral buzz and generating customer engagement.
Rob Powers told us even more. "Not only is the location a surprise, but so is the player involved. In fact, the player doesn't even know until they're woken up by an early morning call from the local Denny's Shift ManagerTM that the Talon Of The WeekTM will be expected to report for their shift and clock in within the hour," Powers said.
"In fact, today it's Alaric Wullenweber, confirming the Mad Popes' worst fears."
It's all part of the Ninth District CourtTM settlement in the case of Talons et al v. Denny's et al reached earlier this year. Talons fans have had to endure a playing field plastered with Denny's logos, and there was even the infamous Team NewsTM that was required to include a reference to DENNY'S on average once every 5 words. But as more details of the settlement are revealed, fans and pundits are just getting weirded out by the whole thing.
Powers continued. "Not only are Talons players forced to wait tables at America's DinerTM, they even have to take the food home and feed it to their own families. Recently, our investigative reporters followed Ron Shiplack home after his shift, lugging bags of Grand Slam BreakfastsTM home to his kids. He's got a torn hamstring for Chrissakes! What the hell is wrong with these people??" Powers exclaimed.
What's worse, the player will then have to post an image to social media of their family actually being served the hours-old, reheated breakfast food. When will the madness end?
Go talons!TM

Would nominate this for a Caleca, but I know Frum has forsaken that chase.
