We've seen this before.
The Talons' Reclusive GMTM has more than once ran into trouble by holding down a second job at an iron plant in this mid-size Ohio city while also "running" the Phoenix Talons of the BBA.
In Arizona. 2000 miles away.
But with his Delta Skymiles Card, the GM has routinely claimed that he can commute back and forth and do both jobs. That fact was put to the test yesterday, as the First Round of the BBA Draft proceeded apace. According to sources, the GM was seen begging and pleading his Brewster counterparts to delay their draft picks, just so that there would be enough time for Phoenix to make their selection after the GM's shift was over.
Much mirth and hilarity was had, but eventually a kind hearted soul delayed their pick by a couple hours so the Reclusive GM could clock out, fly to Phoenix, and make the selections. And do you know what's even more hilarious? The one guy that Phoenix wanted was taken 12th, just before the Talons came up. So, defeated, the GM landed at Sky Harbor International Airport and shuffled his way to his offices at DENNY'S Paul D. Lunn Memorial Stadium Presented by Subaru.
There, the club finally landed picks at 13 and 20, with an emphasis on signability (remember the club is -$11,000,000 on the year) and intangibles. Yeah, we know, that's a fancy way of saying that the picks were horrible. For more details, please see the next Team News!
Go Talons!
