2055-18: Talons Have "Nice Looking Vest" Of Their Own to Think About

Post by jiminyhopkins » Wed Jul 26, 2023 12:39 am

Phoenix, AZ--

The BBA's most renowned author/GM posted an intriguing League Feature (always a good idea if more than three paragraphs...extra points!) about vesting options in certain contracts around the league. But the accomplished scribe did in fact overlook one more such vesting contract... with one of his favorite players from the Yellow Springs days.

At this point in the season, Old Friend Tiernan O'Macken has thrown 49.2 innings for both San Fernando and Phoenix. The next out he records will trigger a $2 million vesting option for 2056, which the Talons would be paying 80% of. No big deal, right? Not normally, no. But O'Macken is pissed. Even after pitching over a decade for the Talons, the 37 year old Irish lefty is still angry with the Talons for releasing him last August after he suffered a season ending injury.

The Talons have countered that it was merely a cap-based business decision, and that all of O'Macken's medical bills and pension obligations for the 2054 season were made whole. But the formerly loyal all star reliever of the past has changed his tune since being effectively forced via trade to pitch for Phoenix again. "I don't even know what I'm doing here!", he said with a gruff tone after a recent game before retreating to the training room. So, despite the nostalgia factor in bringing back a Talon and Nine legend, things aren't off to such a good start. To say nothing of the fact that he has allowed runs in every appearance so far for his "new" club.

So should the Talons let him pitch again and vest that option, locking in a disgruntled veteran onto a failing team for another season? What do YOU think?

The fans want to see him pitch! Get him out on that mound, it's only money.
