2054-0014: Talons Electronic Media And Forum Posting Department Presents: End of Season News and Notes

Phoenix, AZ--

Time for some more News and/or Notes!!

Talons Eliminated Right On Schedule
As predicted, September 28th was the red-letter day for the Talons, as they were eliminated from the playoffs once again. At one point in early September, it looked as though the club could sneak in as the fourth JL Wild Card, but a 5-8 record from Sept 15th onward doomed the franchise as Edmonton took the slot. Hopes of a third playoff appearance in four seasons were always faint, but as usual, the Talons have a lot of work to do in the offseason, which starts now.

Chris Wright gets First Major League Hit
After a storied career with the Toledo Liberty, legendary minor league outfielder Chris Wright finally got his first call to the big leagues. He saw his first action in a Sept 23rd extra inning win against the Oysters, appearing as a pinch hitter leading off the 10th inning against Rocky Mountain reliever Christian Chavez. On a 1-1 count, Wright hit a ground ball to deep short that he beat out for an infield single. The game ball was retrieved, and the home crowd offered a warm ovation. Wright was later stranded on 3rd base to end the inning.

SCIII Non-Committal on Future with Talons
Presumptive HOFer Steven Collins III crossed the 80 career WAR mark this past season and looks good again for 2055 as a 38 year old infielder. But with the Talons missing the playoffs, will he want to stick around as the team retools yet again? Collins has $15 million guaranteed next season and is subject to a team option for 2056. Collins, as a huge gate draw and still a 3 to 4 WAR player, might command a return from a team looking to take the leap into contention with a healthy FI boost. But SCIII has had no comment on his future plans in recent interviews, so stay tuned for any possible news throughout the offseason.

Collins should be a first ballot HOF'er.
