2054-0010: Talons Figure If Other Teams Can Write Low-Effort 'News and Notes' Type Articles, Then The Talons Can Too

Phoenix, AZ--

The bar has been set pretty low.

The Talons Electronic Media And Forum Posting Department (TEMAFPD) used to put a lot of thought into their Team News articles. You know, creating lore, expanding the universe, delving into backstories, and so forth. Well no more. With the proliferation of "News and Notes" articles, the TEMAFPD has realized that they were simply trying too hard. So, here are some notes. And maybe some News.

--Talons at .500
With an 8-2 record in August so far, the Talons sit at 60-60. And though the standings count that as 6th place, the club actually has as many wins as the 3rd place team, Edmonton. With 3 of the 4 JL Wild Card slots likely coming from the Frontier, this puts the club in a good spot to compete for their 3rd playoff appearance in 4 seasons. The club currently sits at 7th in Runs Scored in the JL and 9th in Runs Allowed, both stats being vast improvements from the first third of the season. Could the Talons be set up for a 6 week dash to the finish?

--Talons Rookie SP Raising Eyebrows
Starter Nick Rivers was the 15th overall pick in the 2050 BBA draft. Since then, he has put together a sterling minor league track record (Including 4 minor league championships) and has even added a 4th pitch to his repertoire. He started 2054 in Toledo, but once the ineffective Bialy Musialowski was claimed on waivers by Calgary, Rivers has been a standout in the major league rotation, with a 7-3 record, 3.57 ERA, and 1.24 WHIP in 15 starts.

--Sugiyama Continues Dominance
33 is getting old for a full time backstop. But Ichizo Sugiyama is continuing his run as the #1 ranked catcher in the BBA with another standout season that may well eclipse his 4.9 WAR of a year ago, or even the 5.6 WAR rookie campaign in 2046 that garnered him the FL Gillstrom Award. Sugi is currently at .291/.367/.567 with 27 home runs and a 154 wRC+. With capable backup Farid bin Mubarak taking over every 5th day, the Talons have already compiled 5.2 WAR at the catcher position.

There, that was easy!

Go Talons!

That wasn't so difficult.
