2054-0001: Talons GM Hints at Reasons for Last Season's Pity-Party in First Interview in Years [Must-Read Exclusive!]
Phoenix, AZ--
Hey folks, I'm Rob Powers, Sportswriter/Investigative Journalist for the Phoenix Sun Times Post Dispatch (One of Phoenix's Greatest Newspapers). Today we present a small excerpt from my interview with the GM of the Phoenix Talons. You may have heard of them, they've been a BBA playoff team for two of the last three seasons. I know, wild, right? Anyway, here you go:
Rob: So what was the deal in 2053 anyway?
GM: I hear ya. My goal was to meet all the requirements and go dark for a while.
Rob: Yeah we know, you literally wrote an article about it. But why?
GM: If you want the honest truth, I felt frustrated that my legitimate complaints about the draft were being ridiculed. I caught more than a few comments on discord mocking my concerns. But I'm not the only one who thinks Drafts Are ShittyTM. I was amused when one of the newer GM's looked at the pool and literally said "that's it? that's the pool?". Like I said, weak drafts encourage tanking. Nobody seemed to understand that.
Rob: Hmm. That's interesting. Anything else?
GM: The minor league age limit stuff, which came later, I see as a personal attack on the way I play the game. You can't tell me that some A ball prospect will have his career ruined and development curtailed by playing the Liberty a few times a year. Give me a break. I derive enjoyment by making my minor league teams really good. It is even more poignant because I can't seem to make my ML team anything more than mediocre. It was actually cool for a few years when a couple other GM's tried to make epic Single-A teams as well. The Liberty actually had some competition for once and it was fun.
Rob: So what did you do about it?
GM: I complained about the draft, but we all saw the reaction. The age limits came after I decided to go dark, so I held back on that one even though some expected me to speak out. But, here's one truth I've found. I've been a part of Recte leagues for literally 26 years in real life. So I've seen a lot. Over the years, I have learned that raising an issue and speaking out about it has rapidly diminishing returns.
Rob: Not worth it, huh.
GM: Don't take this the wrong way, but there are days when I can kinda sorta understand why Ted was so frustrated and why he left. I wanted to avoid that. So, Instead of looking more and more like an ass by complaining all the time, I decided to go dark for a while, thats all. It's not designed for anyone to take personally.
Rob: And the result?
GM: The result was a nice break. I was actually glad that I could run Tokyo too. It nice to build another team and farm system, and I am super proud to have won all 5 Championships with the entire franchise. Plus, the Talons made the playoffs with me literally doing nothing. So that was cool.
Rob: What about 2054?
GM: Well clearly I'm no longer a shadow GM, what with this "Team News" and some random posts on the boards. Plus McBride, Zhao, and Moelling are free agents so we have a lot of money to spend. Also, can't wait to set my draft to "Auto" again and watch the shitty picks roll in.
Rob: Ain't this great, folks? This is why the Phoenix Sun Time Post Dispatch is One of Phoenix's Greatest Newspapers! Can't wait for ChatGPT v17.0 to award me the Pulitzer Prize!
Go Talons!

Lol - first off he was a Cardinals fan . Ted was around the league for a ling time. He added a lot of content and conversations to the league. I believe he's left and come back 2x?
In the end I believe he left over some frustration. Go back and search the fourms he’s generated some good articles.

That was the final straw, but there was a lot brewing under the surface there. I still maintain this place was a better league with an active and engaged ted

Ted was (IS) great. He just gets way, way too invested which ends up in a small issue becoming WW3.
