He said the Talons would win 85 games. Goddamn liar. The Talons won 78 games and continued their run of mediocrity that was only ever so briefly interrupted by 2051's playoff appearance.
But with McBride opting in and an extra 10 mil of cap space, the Talons decided that the best way to go was sign even more expensive, fragile veteran FA's. Why? Well, with drafts this shitty, why bother rebuilding??

12/01/52: P Neil Davies 6Y/5.5MM
Davies has a 4.23 career ERA over 450 BBA innings. Should be a good long reliever/emergency starter.
12/09/52: RF Chris Thomas 3Y/18.6MM
Thomas is a corner OF who had a decent up and coming career before back injuries derailed his 2052 campaign. In other words, perfect for Phoenix.
12/16/52: OF James J. Barney 2Y/2.7MM
Barney has power, speed, and tremendous intangibles. Good 4th OF, who hopefully can compile a positive WAR for once.
12/17/52: SP Emanuel Mercati 6Y/55MM
Mercati should slot right in as #2 starter behind Moelling. Last two BBA seasons were 3 WAR campaigns. The Labrum Fairy is drooling over this one.
02/03/53: OF Manoell Whanon 4Y/21.8MM
Who better to play CF than a guy with a career -45.4 ZR there! Awesome!
02/03/53: 1B Juan Mateo 3Y/8.1MM
Wouldn't be a winter FA period without an Old Friend Alert. Mateo was traded away in the Don Smith deal. Good defensive 1B.
Huh. Looking back at these guys, maybe this wasn't the best way to go. Should have rebuilt. Oh damn, that's right, drafts are so shitty that rebuilding is a lost cause. Onward then! YAY!
