It was a long and boring shift at the local neighborhood iron smelter. Not much was going on and the office was quiet. It was rainy and damp outside, and the Reclusive Talons GM was glad he had an inside job.
What job is that, you ask? Why running the Toledo Liberty of course. And the Tokyo Pearls. And, well, you could say he runs the Phoenix Talons, too. In any case, not much was going on in the heady world of iron oxide refining this particular day. So, the GM decided to find out what the world wide web was saying about his Talons, especially since they finished in 6th place and were eliminated from the playoffs on the final sim of the season, as always. Here was the result:
Huh, he thought. Expecting to find out all sorts of cool stuff about Ichizo Sugiyama, or Jodie Hanna, or even Eugenio Asseldonk, the so-called "world wide web" seemed to indicate that none of those players actually exist. Hell, the team itself might just be a fictional construct running on some German program inside of a computer somewhere in southeastern Wisconsin.
Oh well. Might as well stifle the tears, finish out the shift and try not to talk to anyone.
There's going to be a lot of drinking to do tonight.
