Phoenix, AZ--

A small cluster of news items because we didn't feel like typing a whole article for each one (could have had 4 more points, oh well).

Rojas:
The Talons have traded for SP Luis Rojas. The deal with Boise may indeed be an historical one, as Rojas may well be the first pitcher in baseball history to be traded a mere two days after throwing a No Hitter. The trade saw Talons minor league 1B Jorge Gonzalez, star of the Toledo Liberty, head to Idaho along with CF Jim Lorenzen to balance out salaries. When asked who will play CF in Lorenzen's absence, the Talons replied, "We don't know."

Kondo:
Aki Kondo isn't exactly having a career year for the Talons, but he did notch a career milestone last week as he picked up victory number 200, as explained by a crappy BNN article that was clearly written by a bot. Kondo, who famously opted out of his 30+ mil/yr contract the last time he was with the Talons, has so far given up no runs in August after being somewhat mediocre for most of the season thus far.

Wild Card:
Yes, stop us if you have heard this before, but the Talons are currently occupying the coveted 4th Wildcard slot in the Johnson League. The last weekend of the season looms, but so far the club is 3rd in the JL in runs allowed (as expected), and a surprising 9th in runs scored after being at the back of the pack in that metric for many seasons. 3B Chua-kah Yang is leading the offense with a career year, and veteran Angel Zalapa continues to improve after a horrific April and May. Will it be enough? Check back on, oh, say, about Sept 29th and we'll see!
