2049-0011: Talons Log Into StatsPlus to Vote for Awards, Are Shocked to Find One of Their Own Pitchers on the Ballot

Phoenix, AZ--

Long derided as a team that would blindly vote for all their own players at the end of season awards, the Talons have since abandoned that practice the last few seasons, claiming that none of their players are deserving of such an honor.

So, naturally, in the midst of halfheartedly voting for whoever has the best WAR and not giving it another thought, one of their own players legitimately appeared on the JL Rookie of the Year ballot. The Talons had to look twice, because at first they didn't even recognize the name.

Who is this "Tom King"? The Talons weren't sure. Normally, they forget to even toggle to the pitchers tab on the ROY ballot. Maybe it was a guy they traded away or something. He wasn't on the active roster. Was he injured? Ahh yes, there he is, right there on the DL with shoulder inflammation. Go figure.

Anyway, it turns out that in a year of upheaval, King was the most consistent starting pitcher on the club, when he was healthy, and ended up with the third highest WAR on the team at 2.0 in only 120 innings. Looks like this King guy is the real deal, the Talons guessed. Might as well vote for him.

And while they are at it, they might as well pencil him in to the 2050 rotation, where he'll probably be the best guy there again as well.

Go Talons!

I voted for Ad Ouakili. He's a Phoenix guy, right?
