2048-0005: Talons Actually Have No Idea What Is Happening Right Now

For some reason, the Talons are in first place, and they don't know why.
As May rolls around, Talons fans expected the club to be many things, but not leading the BBA in wins. People who are used to scrolling down quite a ways to access the team website have been confused lately, not expecting the club to be at the top of the standings. "Usually a record like that is reserved for the single -A team in Toledo," said Talons fan @phxtalonssuck_69. "It's so weird to see them in first place. But at least we can take solace that it won't last too much longer. I mean the universe has to right itself eventually, right?" the fan said.
What's driving this early performance? Much like last season, the club has one of the best pitching staffs in the league, led by none other than Don Smith and his 4-1, 2.06 ERA record. The scouts weren't too kind to his ratings this spring, but the former phenom has been able to battle through games so far. The rest of the rotation has been solid, and even Roy Minty is beginning to right the ship after getting "tripped up" in a couple starts earlier in April.
But the offense is still well below average, as usual, and even the bullpen has been a tad inconsistent at times. To say nothing about the finances, which are still so bad that the club had to release a number of players just to be able to call up an injury replacement for 3B Pankratz Isekenmier. No one is even sure if the club will even be able to afford to sign their picks in the ongoing BBA draft, shitty as they may be.
But take heart Talons fans, all will be right with the world soon. Hopefully the club can just fall apart now and get it over with. No use waiting til the last sim again.
