Old Friend Alert: Roy Minty is back.
Talons fans may remember Minty as the first round draft pick from 2044 who just showed up to rookie league one day and began playing without negotiating a signing bonus. Minty was later traded in the Tiernan O'Macken deal to the Yellow Springs Nine, where he recently found success in their rotation to the tune of 2.1 WAR in 126 innings. Despite being shut out of the playoffs due to their nonexistant offense, the Talons felt that replacing Luis Colon in the rotation was a higher priority.
Once the Nine posted their trade block, the Talons contacted them and expressed interest. Things progressed smoothly from there, and in a matter of hours, Talons prospects P Jose Hernandez and 2B Jim Fry were on their way to Southwest Ohio. The Talons feel that Minty will be more than capable of replacing Colon's 1.5 WAR, and at a far cheaper price than Colon's (now denied) 10.5 million team option.
