As many have read, the Talons last season made a fateful decision and laid off all members of the vaunted Talons Electronic Media And Forum Posting Department. This move was designed to save the club the exorbitant expense of employing interns from the University of Phoenix's Communications Major academic program.
But instead of saving the team money, it actually cost them. Maybe not monetarily, but certainly in other ways. So much so, in fact, that the franchise is officially on notice from the League office to improve engagement and communication with its fans. To that end, the club is studying ways to improve in this respect. The first step, according to team officials (the ones that are still employed, that is...) is to study what made the club's previous efforts so useful in the first place.
"So what we did was, we went back and looked at our previous output, going all the way back to 2029," said the front office source. "As it turns out, of the 315 Talons Team News articles ever written, 271 had headlines that started with the word 'Talons'. Our statistical analysis department has informed us that this represents a rate of over 86 percent."
"So it's all about branding. We have to get the Talons name front and center of all articles and refine what it means to our fans and our space. Only 86%? Not good enough. When we finally get the TEMAFPD reinstated this Spring, you'll see a whole new effort to get the Talons name front and center of everything we do."
