2045-00015: Talons Decide to Ruin Jobal Troop's Season by Posting Article About How Well He is Doing So Far This Season

In the storied tradition of early May press releases in baseball leagues the world over, the Talons have decided to write an article about how well one of their veteran players is performing so far in the early going.

After an offseason trade with Edmonton, Troop has slotted very nicely into the #3 slot in the Talons rotation. After 7 starts, Troop is fifth in the BBA with a tidy 1.80 ERA. As an experienced veteran who has appeared in the postseason an incredible 12 of his 13 seasons in the league, Troop is thus far living up to the task he has been brought in to do, with the Talons in second place in the JL Frontier. One of the veteran's strengths is that he is durable, averaging well over 200 IP for every full season in his career. He also is known as a lefty who is very tough on right handed batters.

So why are the Talons writing this? Don't they know that the minute this thing is posted, Troop will obviously get blown up, giving up 9 runs in his next start and coasting down the rest of the year to a 4.5 ERA? Why jinx the guy like this? After all, last season the Talons made a big deal about Cisco Morales, who was 7-1 with a 1.80 ERA in mid May, but ended up with a season ending ERA over 5. Morales, a free agent, did not even net the Talons a comp pick.

Anyway, Troop is amazing, will have the best season of his career, will never be on the DL, and will lead the Talons to the JL Championship Series.

Right?

Calling out a jinx in a jinx... Ah yes, the old reverse jinx tactic. I know of it well.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
