Phoenix, AZ--
Pedro Guzman
Where did he come from?
Pedro Guzman was drafted by the Talons in the first round of the monster 2038 draft as the 20th overall pick. He was an easy sign for Phoenix, with a mere $1.5 million required for his bonus. Guzman has been slated as a force from the beginning, recording a 1.423 OPS in his final college season. A September 2042 cup of coffee did not go well, however, and his 2043 season in the majors did not convince anyone in Phoenix that this guy was ready, despite the gaudy ratings.
How did he do last season?
The 2043 BBA Media Guide called it (a year late, lol), forecasting Pedro to bust out in a big way. And he finally did in 2044, gaining the BBA Home Run title with 53 bombs and recording 4.8 WAR as a DH. His .365 OBP led the team, and he was named to the JL All Star team for the first of what is sure to be many times. According to scouts, there is more power potential there, making Guzman the heir apparent to former Phoenix DH Bartolo Ortiz.
Whats going to happen to him?
Easy. The club locks Guzman up for a six season extension on the day he achieves five years of service time.
