2042-18: Talons Record the Most Amazing, Incredible, Uplifting Podcast in the History of the BBA. Then They Deleted It.

Phoenix, AZ--

After reading a rather touching year-end retrospective about the culture of the BBA by the Lord and Master of PPT Ron Collins, the Talons were inspired by one particular sentence.

"Perhaps the greatest two points ever earned."

The Talons were confused. Were they really talking about US? For a crappy 8 minute podcast where the Talons talked about incredibly boring stuff? Then, the various interns in the Talons Electronic Media And Forum Posting Department decided to turn confusion into inspiration. They decided to make the greatest podcast of all time.

The interns, even though they were working for free (because they are interns), decided to lock themselves in a room and brainstorm. They even ordered in some White Castle to get the creative juices flowing. They arranged guest stars. Rare interviews. Popular music was sampled and cleared so it could be played between segments without garnering a copyright strike. There was even a power point presentation of various sabermetric stats and stuff, designed to play as the listener followed along.

It was brilliant!

Beholding their creation, the interns of the TEMAFPD stood in awestruck wonder at the incredible product of their (uncompensated) efforts. Slowly, one by one, their expressions turned from wonderment and joy to concern and dismay. They began to realize that this amazing thing, this fruit of their labor, this blessing upon the BBA world, was just too good to exist. No way could this shining light be loosed on our fictional world. Some things are just too beautiful to exist.

No one will admit who made the first move. But before anyone could blink, a hand darted toward the keyboard and pressed the "delete" button. The file was so big and wonderous, it took 45 seconds to be sent to the recycle bin on their Windows 98 laptop. Maybe someone said "we can always 'restore' it later," or maybe they just thought it in their head. But as soon as the next hand moved the mouse and clicked "empty recycle bin", the deed was done. The most achingly sublime podcast in the history of fake baseball leagues had vanished into the ether, never to be heard by a single soul outside of that office.

As the interns slowly filed out of the room, one of them slowly deposited a crumpled, greasy White Castle bag into the trash, realizing the poetry of what he had just done. Silently, he looked at his fellow Communications majors and they all shared a singular, comforting thought.

They had done the right thing.
