2042-06: Talons are Stuck in a World Where Everyone Cares About the BBA a Lot More Than The Talons Do. (sad face)
Phoenix, AZ--
The Talons have never won a championship. In fact they have only won their division a couple times. The Talons never log onto slack, and they never participate in podcasts. We've never had an MVP, or Cy Young. The Talons are not what you would call a "good" Brewster Baseball team. In fact, in the first seven years of existence, the team perpetually lost money. And after over 12 seasons, they have barely made 5 million dollars total.
Is it because they don't care that much?
As the Talons spent time this evening reading through yet ANOTHER argument as to how many sims there should be in a week, they had a revalation. People really CARE about this shit. A lot.
And the Talons thought about it. The team just doesn't have the passion that others have. We don't write 200 team news articles a year. We don't have a hall of fame with retired numbers (shhhh, don't tell the Participation Point Tracker!). The club doesn't write team previews or League Features. The franchise doesn't make their own uniforms, think up wild scenarios, or create whole worlds of intrigue around their team. They just export when they can, and try to fit in enough articles to meet the minimum. A whole existence of only doing JUST ENOUGH to scrape by, year after year.
And that's why they suck.
When you care about your team, you care about many aspects of it. But especially about making it better. You study your players, scout out opponents, actually try to draft guys who will help your team, and even attempt to manage cash flow. And it shows! So many good teams, storied franchises, amazing virtual worlds of baseball enjoyment, and engaged GMs. So passionate that they will argue about how much time they have to write articles.
And the Talons admire that! All the while, lamenting about how they will never be able to invest that much thought, energy, and time into a fake baseball league. And all the while, realizing that their franchise will never ascend to the ranks of the elite, because they simply don't care that much.
Its just a hobby, not an obsession.
And that's not enough.

The Phoenix Talons appear to have had a series of small cerebral accidents ...

Perhaps the Talons management would be better off retiring to a hot, sandy UMEBA home and allowing one of the young keen enthusiastic GM’s there to make the Talons great again by caring

Phoenix players have shot this down with a resounding 27-0 vote (although Sang-Duk Sim had to be held down and his hand raised forcibly by team captains Gerardo Guzman and Albie Racist.)
How else would they get guaranteed All-Star votes?
