2042-03: Talons Log in to Slack

Post by jiminyhopkins » Sun Apr 05, 2020 11:28 am

Phoenix, AZ--

"Well lookie what we have here. A draft that is actually worthy of paying attention to. Barely."

That was the word from the Talons front office yesterday, when they went through the laborious process of actually logging into stats plus in order to see the draft pool and make a pick. But in order to log into stats plus, the Talons first must log into slack. Oh sure, a facebook or google account can be used. But the Talons never use FB to log into any other site, and besides, their search engine of choice is Bing.

So, slack it is. After trying to remember what the 'workspace' is called, then its onto another screen for a login and password. After all that, then stats plus needs permission from slack to access stats plus, or whatever that means. The Talons just click 'allow' anyway.

But wait, you might say. Why is this such a big deal, you might think. The Talons seriously have to do all of this work every single time, in order to look at the draft or vote their own players for awards? Yes. Every time.

But wait, you might say, doesn't the Talons browser store all of that information? Can't the Talons just use a password manager or something? No, and here's why. Apparently, the Talons front office has all of their computers set to Windows 7, using Firefox as the browser. And yes, the broswer is set to 'clear cookies' every single time. So ahh, yes, you might say. Now it makes sense why they never log in.

Its too much work!

By now one might be wondering why the Talons logged into slack at all. Well, back to the draft. The club had a look at the draft pool, and wow, wouldn't you know it, a real, live starting pitcher was there for the taking. He even has three pitches and everything! In fact, the choice of Antonio Gonzales represents only the second time in franchise history that the club drafted a pitcher in the first round.

After drafting the lefty starter, the Talons thought, hey, since we're already logged into slack, why not actually write something? The Talons mentioned that they drafted a pitcher. Then someone replied "Great pic". Wow, the Talons thought, someone actually thinks we made a great draft choice. But then the Talons wondered.... did the commenter mean to say they liked the Talons draft choice, or merely their profile "pic", which is still a Nissan logo for some reason? Then the Talons got confused and logged off.

We'd love to continue, but this is way too many paragraphs for a measly two points.

Stay tuned for the next Team News!

To be fair to the commenter, your profile pic is shiny and, in fact, nice.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.

I would have thought the Talons front office search engine of choice would have been Lycos or Ask Jeeves
