2040-01: Talons Kick Off New Season of Team Newses With Article About Bartolo Ortiz And All His Awards Last Year

With the Talons Electronic Media and Forum Posting Department successfully reaching their points goals last season, they wasted no time in getting a head start on the 2040 season's posts and news.

Bartolo Ortiz is in line to pick up his 3rd career Platinum Stick Award tomorrow, capping an impressive season of feats that saw him reach the coveted and possibly record setting (we don't know actually) 250 home runs at age 25 milestone. His 2039 Stick award at DH will join his trophy case, right next to his 2034 and 2036 accolades at RF.

Speaking of Ortiz's trophy case, 2039 was a very good reason to expand the shelving unit. In addition to his 2039 All Star nod, Bartolo added two Player of the Week awards as well as the JL Batter of the Month mark for June and September. He ended the year tied for the JL lead in home runs with 47, while posting 5.8 WAR and likely finishing 3rd in the Silk MVP race as a DH.

All of this while playing for a very team friendly 5 year, $61 million extension, and its no wonder that he is one of Phoenix's most popular players. With such a home run total at such a young age, its easy to imagine the heights Ortiz can achieve. If he stays in Phoenix's park, who knows: 500, 600, or even more home runs are entirely possible. Oh, and did we mention he already has 700 RBI?
