2039-08: Talons Season Preview Series: Catcher

Welcome to the 2039 edition of the Phoenix Talons Season Preview Series. Without Ted here to comment on all of our articles, these will likely become buried on the forum in a matter of hours. But hey, they're 2 points each so we might as well get started.

ML Starter: Cisco Arreola (75/75)

As veteran catchers go, Arreola is one of the better ones. With a presumptive Hall of Fame resume already, the 35 year old backstop hasn't lost a step as he begins the first season of a three year deal with the Talons. Cisco has taken the mantle as captain of this team, and after posting 2.1 WAR in just 51 games after being traded to Phoenix in late 2038, looks to solidify a very formidable Talons lineup.

ML Backup: Vicente Diaz (45/45)

The 25 year old Diaz has good intangibles and some pop in his bat. Last year he appeared in 19 games and slashed .212/.307/.333 in 66 at bats.

Minor League Depth: Ethan Foster (40/45)

Also 25, Foster had spent parts of the last two season in the bigs, doing quite well in '37 only to stumble in '38, when he lost his job to Diaz. Still more than capable of filling a big league backup role if called upon, in the meantime he will start for AAA Ashland.

Prospect to Watch: None.

Not one of the Talons' top 30 prospects are Catchers. Remember when we told you that trading Roeloff Klooster would hurt?
