2036-09: Talons Sign Manager and Assistant GM to 4 Year Extensions

After the franchise's first playoff appearance, it was only a matter of time before the club finally rewarded the leader of the team.

Talons manager John Yates was signed to a four year extension, beginning in 2037. The pact pays the skipper $950,000 per season for the duration. Yates, who began as the manager of the Single-A Toledo Liberty in 2029, worked his way up through the organization like any other prospect. He took over the big club in September of 2033, and then led the club to its first above .500 season in 2034. And of course, he helmed the Talons to a wild card appearance last season. Players, fans, and media alike are fan of Yates, with his friendly demeanor and sense of humor standing out for many. It's clear his positive attitude has rubbed off on the team, and now he's being rewarded for it.



In addition, the team also wrapped up an extension for Assistant GM Stu Coates.

Coates agreed to a 4 year extension of his own, receiving a slight raise that will pay him just over 500K a year, also starting in 2037. The 55 year old front office executive came over in 2034 after a very successful run with California. With the Talons, he has maintained a top 10 farm system even as the club has become a playoff caliber team. He has been credited with signing such international prospects as Raul Fernandez and Roelof Klooster, all the while vastly increasing the Talons reach into the international sphere. His philosphy of signing young veterans to minor league deals has also fostered a winning culture throughout all levels of the organization, with the majority of Talons farm teams making their respective playoffs year after year.
