2036-08: Talons Sign IFA C Roelof Klooster

Today the Talons announced their biggest International Free Agent signing in franchise history.

For a total signing bonus of just over $3 million dollars, the club inked Netherlands native Roelof Klooster, a 16 year old catcher. International free agents are always hard to scout with certainty, but overall, talent evaluators foresee the young backstop as having a future in the big leagues with a powerful bat and at least average catching ability. In fact, Klooster enters the Talons farm system with the best potential contact tool of any other Phoenix prospect. The league seems to agree, placing Klooster at #66 in the top 100 right off the bat.

"We're thrilled to sign this young man at a price that reflects his level of talent, but also represents a value signing for our organization," Talons Assistant GM Stu Coates said. "It's easy for teams to get out of control with these international guys. You see it every year. But now, we have a potential All Star catcher for a reasonable signing bonus."

"We feel he's very projectable. Klooster already shows good arm anad ability at the position at a very young age. In addition, his superior gap power rating and flyball tendencies mean that we expect some of that gap power to translate into home run power as he develops," Coates said.
