2061-001: Talons Electronic Media And Forum Posting Department gets Screwed by AI

It may be the offseason, but the Talons Electronic Media And Forum Posting Department never sleeps. Well, except for that time when they all got fired by the Talons GM and the team was put on probation for not "participating" enough.

But we digress!

As we said, the TEMAFPD never sleeps. So while the front office was busy making Ian Patrick Anderson a manager and converting waiver claim Noori bin Mu'awiyah into a passable lefty reliever, the Department turned to some of the easiest points available: Poll creation.

But a funny thing happened on the way to "indefinitely" (the supposed duration of the poll according to the forum editor). Despite good engagement from the community, far more than a typical Talons team News, the forum AI decided to cut off voting with only 9 tallies recorded. What's the big deal, you ask?

It's a very big deal, we answer. Because you need 10 votes to get 2 points from the poll, otherwise it's only 1 point. The damn AI just cost the Talons $100,000! And what's more.... the poll was about that very thing, Artificial Intelligence, and whether it was good enough to win a Caleca, one of the most important distinctions we have in this league. Good writing is precious, and we can't have AI messing things up. Surely, the various authors in this league would agree.

But now, we'll never know. It's a sad day for humans who type on keyboards for a living, like TEMAFPD director David Frum.
