2057.4 Big Papi

Patience. That's been the credo of the Twin Cities River Monsters ever since GM Alan Ehlers took over the team in 2050. He didn't want to remake the same mistakes that he made in the past with the Brooklyn Robins, being known as a reckless GM who didn't care about money and threw caution to the wind any time he had a chance to advance in the playoffs. This Twin Cities team has been different. They've been patient, have made smart moves, and have been slowly building a juggernaut of a team without ever holding a top prospect.

But the fact is, this River Monsters team isn't getting any younger. In fact, they are the oldest team in the BBA, relying on sluggers like Aaron Haney, David Simpson, and Alfonso Trinidad to bolster their lineup each and every game. That trio of players isn't going to be around forever. And for the River Monsters to turn the corner and keep this team afloat, they're going to need a big bat that's a little bit younger.

Throughout the 2057 season, the River Monsters have been scouring the league trying to find a big bat that could possibly be available that could fill their big need. They kept coming back to one name, Majid Bin Husam, aka Big Papi.

Papi was nearing the end of his deal with the San Antonio Outlaws. The Outlaws have been a star-studded team that hasn't been able to put it all together. They've particularly been struggling with finances. So for them to keep their core together seemed near impossible. A guy like Bin Husam, who's only a DH/1B, nearing the wrong side of 30 seemed like an obvious trade chip.

In 49 games since joining the River Monsters, Big Papi is batting .350,/.432, /.719, hitting 14 homers, driving in 42 runs, and hitting 15 doubles. He's posted a 2.2 bar in just those 49 games. It seems as though Twin Cities patience has paid off and they found a great fit

He had a great two months for you, love Big Papi as a player. Getting him in a platoon will surly help his counting stats. Happy he is doing well!
