2053.6 River Monsters Narrowly Miss Post Season

River Monsters Narrowly Miss Post Season Image Ok, maybe it was a little further than we thought

After improving 15 games each of the last 3 seasons, the Twin Cities River Monsters took a giant step back in 2053. Or did the rest of the Heartland just get better? Well, either way it became obvious early that the team didn't have the bullets to compete. With the season finally in the books, it's time to move on to the next chapter in the franchises history.

Look for the River Monsters to avoid high priced free agents and strip back into rebuild mode for the next few seasons. What does a rebuild mode mean in this crazy time in BBA history? We're not quite sure. It certainly involves bringing in great coaches, adding young depth, and trying to build up our financial resources. Beyond that though, it could be anyone's guess.

We all know about the Brewsters talent bloat ad looming bust. But what we don't know is what will happen next. Will there be another super draft? Will we see an increase in talent to international finds? Will players bump more frequently? Or is 45 the new 60? There are a lot of questions to be answered and Twin Cities plans to hedge some resources in any direction they think may be opportunistic.

That's not to say that we won't bring in any free agents. There are definitely some holes that need to be filled. And with the explosion of zone rating stats this season, we will probably see some position shifting and a different style of team moving forward.

I'm still unsure how much coaches make a difference. Wish I knew a bit more about what they do and do not do in terms of impact beyond flavor.
