TWC 48.01 Oliverio Luna Breaks Out.... Wants Out
Oliverio Luna
.270 BA - 6 HR - .980 OPS - .7 WAR (6.0 War Projected)
It's been no secret that Oliverio has been walking around with a chip on his shoulder for a few seasons. After being acquired as a Free Agent in 2044, he had to play behind Jose Cordero, often being stuck as a DH or a platoon situation. He often struggled in the role, underperforming to his abilities. He regularly vocalized his frustration to GM Scott Piccoli, asking to be dealt... but to no avail.
Now that Cordero is gone, Luna has been giving the full reign to the starter role and is taking full advantage of the chance. With 6 home runs already, his current pace is 60+ HRs... while that's unrealistic, there's no doubt he could be looking 45-50 homeruns.
Unfortunately, he's currently surrounded with extremely young players and career minor leaguers. There's often no one on base when he comes up... leaving him with a low RBI total at 13... 6 of which are himself...
Soooo... Guess what. He's still angry and wants out. But, with the team in no position to compete for at least three seasons... GM Piccoli is more than willing to let Luna go if chance arises.
"Luna has always had the tools to succeed... but it's never quite happened at the BBA level..." Commented GM Piccoli "After 11+ seasons, he's Career WAR is 1.7 before this season. He's going to easily double or triple that alone this season. He could very well be a valuable asset to another team this year."
