46.05 TWC - The Ramirez Gamble

Surprisingly, the market for Alex Ramirez has been luke warm, with only a couple of offers. The uncertainty of the player option for 2047 could be the culprit.

Alex is due to make $18.7 Million in 2047 if he decides to opt in... Which may seem like a no brainer. But would also be a nice deal for any team that would like to acquire him. Alex has been been a stud in the league since he won the Rookie of the Year award in 2037. And now at age 30, he's accumulated 8 All Star appearances, 4 Gold bats and 2 Golden Gloves.

However, this could be his chance at a gigantic payday. Preliminary talks with Ramirez's agent seems to indicate Alex will be wanting $20-$23 Million per year... If that's the case, will Alex decide to opt out during the Off Season?

If that's the case, it might benefit Twin Cities to hang on to him instead of trading him. They get the benefit of shedding his salary and likely pick a 1st Supplement pick. However, it's a bit of a gamble, because them might be stuck with salary in 2047, which would be an issue for the Front Office.

So... in the final hours before the trade deadline... Trade or No Trade? lol... GM Piccoli is sure likely to choose the wrong way..
