41.07 TWC - Rookies Power River Monsters to 16-10 May

Post by Spiccoli » Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:10 pm

After a miserable April that left Twin Cities in last place in the Heartland. The team showed signs of life in May, winning 16 games and losing 10. More importantly, the young players brought up this season are powering the team to the strong show this month.

MAY ROOKIE STATS

1B Jose Cordero
.281 BA - 10 HR's - 18 RBI's - 1.032 OPS

Cordero collected Rookie of the Month honors for May and continues to shine in his BBA debut. He's second among Frick League Rookies in OPS with .991. He's already popular with Twin Cities fans, which is likely to grow as the season goes along.

2B Francisco Arrendondo
.297 - 6 HR's - 21 RBI's - .912 OPS

Francisco started 2041 on the DL for just over a week and was a little slow after coming back. However, he turned it on in May, leading the team in RBI's (21) from the #3 spot hitting just ahead of Cordero. He also scored 18 times... another benefit of hitting in front of Jose.

SP Jose Perez
5 Starts - 3 Wins 2 Losses - 3.16 ERA

Perez continues his solid performance from April into May. To date, he's got 7 quality starts in 11 games (64%) and has a stellar 1.18 WHIP.

DH Jose Calderon
.355 BA - 6 Home Runs - 14 RBI's - 1.085 OPS

Calderon really struggled out of the gate in April and almost lost his full time starting position and was getting ready to fall into a platoon spot. However, he caught fire and pretty much forced the coach to keep him in the starting line up.
