Every team has injury issues to deal with, but Twin Cities had to manage without it's two best players for 2+ months and it just about did the team in.
Not only have those injured players returned, but they are playing at a high caliber after struggling prior to hitting the disable list.
In the four starts since his return. Chris Kelly has only giving up 5 earned runs total. His ERA has shrunk to 3.57 from the almost 5.00 it was earlier in the season when it appears he was dealing with a bad back. He finally went on the DL in early June and stayed there for 3 months to recover. If Chris can return to his typical form, it will be 3 months well spent than having him struggle the entire year with back issues.
Mark Wareham's terrible season seems to be turning a corner after he spent time on the DL with back issues. At one point in the season, he was hitting .194 with a .700 OPS, even his OBP was terrible at .340. Since returning from injury three weeks ago, Mark has boosted his average to .215 (.352 OBP, .736 OPS). Having a healthy Wareham getting on base has made a huge difference in the River Monster offense.
Joey Newhouse - .292 BA / .821 OPS
Third Baseman, Chris Limon remains on the DL after rupturing a tendon on his finger in Mid-June. He has one more week on the DL, so he'll be available in the final week. Rookie, Joey Newhouse has been fantastic in his absence. Chris Limon's return will allow Newhouse to return to First Base and let defensively challenged Albert Ganoa to hit DH.
A few weeks ago, Twin Cities was on the outside of the playoffs looking in... since then, the River Monsters were bounce back to snag the final Wild Spot and are currently holding it by 3 games.

You do realize that Gaona is actually a better 1B than Newhouse right?Spiccoli wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:00 amChris Limon's return will allow Newhouse to return to First Base and let defensively challenged Albert Ganoa to hit DH.

Goana is better right now, but Newhouse would likely be better with more games there.

I meant to compare Ganoa to Duane Whitney Jr, who I play at 1B as a platoon starter against righties. Ganoa played 1st against lefties.

Not sure why I said Newhouse would be playing 1st when Limon comes back. I had him at DH earlier in the season before Chris Limon went out for 3 months. Whitney is awful against Lefties so Newhouse hit in both lineups as the DH. Whitney was hurt for awhile, which forced Newhouse into the field for a bit.
Brainfart, I guess
