2037.10 TWC Rookie Aragon Walks Off Win with Grand Slam
3B Ricard Aragon
Talents 6/9/8/5/7
It wasn't the dream Grand Slam Walk Off... like being down 3 runs with 2 outs. The game was tied at 6 runs each, but there were 2 outs.
The River Monsters entered bottom of the 9th frame down 6-3 to the Madison Wolves. Twin Cities started pecking away at the lead. A double here, then a single there. Throw in a Fielder's choice and somehow Aragon comes to the plate with the game tied, base loaded and two out.
It's been a rough debut for Ricardo. Having been thrown into full time action before he was likely ready, because of injuries to 3B Chris Limon and his back up, Duane Whitney Jr. He's been struggling to hit .150 in just over 50 At Bats so far on the season.
Most fans were not hopeful to see the Rookie come to the plate. Aragon was 0 or 4 on the day with a one strikeout. He was 0 for 6 the previous two games.
"Don't do too much with it... Walk is as good as a hit here!"
Ricardo took the first two pitches for balls and fans started to get some hope...
"Seriously! Just take another one for Pete's sake!"
But the third pitch wasn't a ball and Aragon didn't take it. He put solid wood on the ball and sent it 418 feet to Right-Center for a Grand Slam.
Too humble for a bat flip... Ricardo sprinted around the bases to awaiting teammates.
And a Homerun is a better than a walk... At least it feels better.
