2037.07 TWC - GM Piccoli's track record with 1st Round Picks Dismal

- "Could the Twin Cities' GM screw up this 2037 Draft like a soup sandwich?"
Beat Reporter - Jimmy Lipper

Granted, River Monster die hards give GM Scott Piccoli some credit for helping lead the team to it's first winning record in 2032 with 85 wins and making the Play-Offs for 4 years straight (if you count the one game play off). Though the team lost two of those one off games to Omaha and Long Beach.

However, there's a lot of talk that the team was pretty much in place and ready to go for Piccoli when he took over. All he had to do was hold the reins, don't let go and don't screw it up. But, as the that young core of players are slowly reaching 30 and earning big money, there's worry that the minor league system doesn't have much for the future for maintaining success at the BBA level.

The main reason for those concerns has been Piccoli's terrible track record with 1st Round picks. Whether it's a terrible scouting crew or bad luck, it appears that Twin Cities busted out again on their 2036 1st Round Draft pick, Starting Pitcher Johnny Harris

Johnny was able to make a handful starts in the minors and pitched well before tearing his UCL. After spring training, it was apparent that the damage doNE from the injury was pretty much career ending, at least as far as a BBA career. At this point, Harris will be lucky to be competitive at AAA when, if ever, he develops.

When asked about his drafting track record, Piccoli was quick to defend himself.

"We just called up Leonardo Di'Medici, our 2035 #1 pick, and I believe he went out and threw 4+ scoreless innings with one hit in relief for his first week. And Wes Savage has been a productive member our team, he's just going through a rough patch at the plate right now. He'll work his way out of it."

Yeah, Yeah, Sure, Sure... One guy in 5 years panned out as expected. Not good Mr Piccoli.
