2037.01 TWC - Manager looks for Gorilla to step up as Team Captain
2B Xue-Qin "Gorilla" Man
While decidedly the less fan famous of the Twin Cities Middle Infielders, Xue-Qin may actually have a bigger impact around the clubhouse with his teammates. His smart play, excellent work ethic and over-all enthusiasm at being at the park everyday always seems to rub off on those around him.
"With the departure of Hunter this Off-Season, we're looking for someone who can be that guy. Man has been there for years, but this year, we're looking for him step up and do a little more in the clubhouse," commented manager Juan Williams on the multi-talented Xue-Qin.
Man does whatever is asked of him. He's even been plugged into Centerfield to bat against lefties since defensive wizard Wes Savage seems to have a blind spot against left handed pitching.
The Taiwan Native has never let the language barrier slow him down and over the years as his English has improved, the other teammates naturally gravitate towards Xue-Qin and follow his lead.
The Twin Cities Front Office is asking Man to take some time and spend a couple of weeks with the now retired Hunter Eisenhower (and new Minor League Manager) to try and learn some of those leadership qualities from the potential Future Hall of Famer. It'll remain to be seen if it'll be enough to enable the normally quiet Man to step up and fill the Team Captain role.
