2036.13 TWC - Chris Kelly earns July Pitcher of the Month after coming off the DL
Chris Kelly
6 Starts, 5-0, 1.11 ERA, .91 WHIP since returning from DL
In a frustrating season that's seen too many losses and disappointments, the exciting return of Chris Kelly infused the team and fan base with a shot of much needed adrenalin.
"We just expect to win when he goes out there, the whole team seems to amp up when he's on the mound." commented Manager Juan Williams on the team's ace. Kelly has benefited from excellent run support in most of his wins, with Twin Cities scoring 30+ runs in his 6 starts.
Since he's return, Kelly has pitched 40+ innings and giving up only 5 runs. He's 6 for 6 in quality starts as well. His Hot July earned him Pitcher of the Month for July in the Frick League.
It's been a season of What If's for the River Monsters. What if just half of those 1Run losses had been wins or even if the dismal 4-11 extra innings record could have at least been a .500 record. Ranking 5th in the league for both ERA and Run's Scored, it seems the team should be performing better than the current 53-59 record.
Especially disappointing has been #2 Starter, Josh Brown and his 5-10 record. However, the front office has definitely NOT lost faith in Josh and is just waiving it as an off season for the young pitcher.
Looking forward to next season, the team has the core of the offense locked up long term and will be looking for another quality starter to provide a solid 1-2-3 punch in the rotation.

Damnit.

Yeah, good for the league and all that. But we don't need this kind of thing in the Heartland. Bad enough that Omaha's good. Now this.
