2036.01 TWC - Teams Opts Out of Boogie's Contract, may try to resign him anyway

The worst kept secret in the Twin Cities' Club House last season was that Hunter's contract was going to be voided at the end of 2035. However, surprisingly, it's rumored that Boogie was completely fine with it, even understood the team's decision. Apparently, when GM Scott Piccoli brought Hunter in to discuss the upcoming decision prior to making it public, instead of being bitter and angry, Hunter expressed interest at staying with the team even at an extreme discount.

The Twin Cities Front Office is taking his offer very seriously. Even with Hunter's fading skills in the home stretch of his career, he was productive last season (.810 OPS) and provides positive intangibles in the Club House. He even played well during the playoff series against San Fernando while newly traded for 1B Albert Ganoa laid an egg (.083 BA).

If the two parties can come to mutual agreement, it might be low risk proposition for Twin Cities to retain a popular player who can still provide a little production here and there.

Like TWC needs more help.

If he's cheap enough, having a guy like Boogie around would be useful.

Grumble.
