2035.21 TWC Jerry Coyle grabs spot in the rotation
Jerry Coyle 6-4 3.26 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 63 QS%
Hometown - Quebec, CAN
After injuries depleted the starting pitching staff earlier in July (Kelly & Omboni), utility reliever Jerry Coyle was called upon to fill in as a starter in the rotation. Coyle had yet to find a home on the pitching staff, filling in as the Closer last season when Felix Alvarado fell off a cliff and was blowing games. Providing spot starts here and there for tired or mildly injured babies in the starting rotation.
However, this time he was truly given the chance to earn a starter spot and Coyle has made the most of it.
"Sometimes you need someone to slap you in the face when the obvious is standing in front of you, Coyle has done everything we've asked so far and it's highly likely he should have been a starter for the last two seasons," laughed Manager Juan Williams.
There were concerns if Coyle could handle a full time starter role, however after Carlino Omoboni went down in July, Jerry Coyle has made 7 starts and gone 4-1, while the team has a 5-2 record. He had an exceptional outing in Vancouver, yielding 1 run in 8+ innings.
For the time being, the loser in this situation is Omoboni who's been regulated to the bullpen after returning from the DL. Carlino has been solid this season, going 7-4 with a 4.15 ERA to date, however he's proven not to be reliable as a full time starter due to his injury proneness. While he's never suffered a season ending injury, he's typically constantly plagued with nagging issues.

should be good enough to throw five good innings and turn it over to the pen.usnspecialist wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 6:32 pmcoyle is an intriguing guy, although he does have the dreaded 4 stamina...
