Chris Kelly 6-4 3.61 ERA - 3 CG with 2 Shut Outs
After back to back to back stellar outings of giving up 3 runs over 25 innings, Chris Kelly hurt his back after getting roughed up by California over 3+ innings. Initial reports have Kelly missing approximately 4 weeks.
The news is followed by #2 Starter Josh Brown straining his quad during a morning workout session. Fortunately for the team, Josh Brown's injury isn't serious and will result in him getting next start pushed back to next rotation.
"The timing of the All Star game couldn't be better," commented Manager Juan Williams,"Basically we're only pushing Josh's start back a a few games instead of a full rotation.
25 year old Jerry Coyle will get a shot at filling in for Chris Kelly. With 2 other starters on the DL, Vlad Reichel and Alejandro Alvarado, Twin Cities starting rotation is getting a little thin. Twin Cities's starting pitching has been solid this season and is currently ranked 3rd in the Frick League. The ability of the Starting Rotation to adjust on the fly will determine if the River Monster can maintain their position in the Wild Card Race and stay within a few game of Yellow Springs in the Heartland Division Race.
