2035.15 TWC Chris Kelly - 1 BB/1 E away from Perfect Game

Chris Kelly - 9 Innings - 10k's - 1B - 0 Hits - O Runs (One runner reached on E, 1st Inning)

Though he probably didn't realize it at the time, but when 2B Xue-Qin Man booted the ball on the second batter Chris Kelly faced, he unknowingly ruined Kelly's bid for a perfect game.

"Are you kidding? I'll take a no hit game any day. In the heat of the moment, you're doing your best to just get the hitter out and trust in your defense to make the plays. Gorilla Man makes that play 99 times out of 100, it happens. These special games are always a team effort," Chris Kelly replied.

The only other blemish on the day was a walk given up in the 7th. Other than that Kelly was masterful and Hawaii had no answer for the young staff ace.

Prior to today's outing, Kelly had been going through a bit of a rough patch, unable to reach the 6th inning in his last four starts. His ERA even briefly went over the 5.00 mark after a tough outing in Valencia where he gave up 9 hits and 5 runs over 4 innings.

Regardless of the Kelly's hiccups this season, there's no question who the #1 guy on the staff is.. and will be for the foreseeable future. Outings like today hopefully foreshadow the career everyone hoping to expect from the young phenom.

"With a guy like Kelly, you just have to keep putting him out there every 5th start. Even when he's struggles, he still gives the team a chance to win... and when he's hot? Well, let's just say you only need score one more run than the other team and on those days that may mean scoring just one run," complimented manager Juan Williams.

Love that he has five pitches.
If the cursed OOTP changeup ever develops fully, he'll be amazing

truly a great performance. For reference 96 will tie freddy Delgado's no hitter from last year as the highest GS in the last 3 seasons.

Well, it hasn't been completely stuck. It's been slowly improving... very slowly.

Fingers crossed

I've been trying to do some actual work to study pitch development, but it's time consuming. :)
