TWC 45.16 GM Piccoli returns from Cabo to see Huber's 300th Save - Part 2

All had been going as planned... Lou Zimmer had played out the line ups with no Subs and the offense was humming along.

D. Simpson : 21 AB, 11 H, 4 HR, 11 RBI, .524 AVG, 1.869 OPS
F. Arredondo : 25 AB, 11 H, 1 HR, 7 RBI, .440 AVG, 1.142 OPS
P. Davenport : 13 AB, 6 H, 1 HR, 3 RBI, .462 AVG, 1.269 OPS

GM Scott Piccoli had just stumbled into the Luxery Box, the River Monsters leading Portland 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Manager Lou Zimmer had elected to start Julian Duran over Juan Valdes, while Hao Kun wasn't ready to go.

Julian had pitched well enough, 4 innings - 5 hits, 2 runs. Yamato stumbled a little, allowing 1 run over 2 innings... but held the lead after TWC went back up in the 5th.

"Ok, Lou... It's time to bring him in..."

Who? The Infamous Shawn Huber. The only reliever to be seriously considered for a Steve Nebraska Award. Shawn was sitting on 299 saves... and was 3 innings away from 300 while also clinching the final Wild Card Spot.

Twin Cities had won 6 games straight, while Hawaii stumbled by losing only 1 game... but that 1 game was enough to crack the door and Shawn Huber was ready to bust the door open.

Flawless... No other word for it.

3 innings - Zero runs and 5 strike outs. Game Over, Wild Card Clinched. 300 Saves for Shawn Huber.

Shaw Huber and Juan Cerda were fantastic all week. Choking off the late innings....

Final Tally over 6 games for Cerda & Huber in innings 7-9

13 innings - 1 Run - 17 K's.

"Well done Lou... Congrates. You've earned it"

You were gone for a bit. We had a couple of relief pitchers win a Nebraska.

Oh, trade me Huber.

Huber’s been overheard saying how much he loves the Windy City ...

I'm rooting for you to win it all now that we are out of it. Good luck as the next couple of years could be messy,
