Twin Cities 1st Draft Pick; 2029, V10

Post by Bumstead » Wed Dec 14, 2016 11:44 am

"With the fourth pick in the 2029 Brewster Baseball Association amateur draft the Twin Cities River Monsters select Xue-qin Man."

Welcome to the big time son! The man they call Gorilla. Gorilla is an 18 year old straight out of college where he played Centerfield during his 1 year there. He is 6'1" and about 180 pounds. He projects to be a solid Centerfielder with good range. In all appearances, it's quite possible that his bat would play at the BBA level immediately, but expectations are that Twin Cities will have him spend at least some time learning the ropes of professional baseball at the minor league level.

Hitting-wise he should develop into a solid contact hitter with enough pop to keep the outfielders from treating him like Juan Pierre. Man is fast like Pierre and he has a cannon for an arm if we compare him to Juan Pierre, but the expectation would be for him to hit with a bit more authority. He should be OK at getting on base, although taking pitches isn't his strong suit. The good thing in regards to his shortcomings is that he works his butt off and is very smart, so it is quite possible that he will see a bump in those areas down the line.

All in all, while this might have been the "safe" pick, it was also a very solid pick. Expectations should have him roaming Centerfield for the River Monsters no later than mid-season 2030.

Good pick- he could even play 2B (I'd train him there for sure).

Yeah, I saw that. Definitely worth putting him there in the minors just in case I need him there sometime. Thanks.

Yeah, I don't think he will come in handy if a fight breaks out!
