Jimmies Reach Monty Brewster Championship, but fall to Portland

Post by DaveB » Mon Jul 15, 2024 5:12 pm

The Jimmies reached their 4th Monty Brewster Championship series in the past 6 seasons, unfortunately they weren't able to replicate their past success. The Jimmies fell 4-2 to the Portland Lumberjacks. "They just outplayed us. I give them credit. To go from a 99 loss team to a 104 game winner and champion is an amazing turn around. I'm glad we only have to play them at most one time per year. They've got a great young nucleus and should be a perennial contender in the Frick for awhile. I'm proud of our team for the way they played this year, just disappointed to fall two wins short" said manager Yao-Qing Yuan.

Crab Bites:

The Jimmies are expected to try to get a little younger in 2060. They recently informed Hughie Dunstone, and Rannal Seldon that they would void their team options for 2060 making both players free agents once the season flips over. There is talk that the team has reached out to Seldon about a contract extension at a lower rate.

The team has also told Bruce 'Saving Grace' Tyler that he will not be back in 2060. Tyler has posted solid 2057 and 2058 seasons while playing between 2B and 3B. The team is expected to have an open competition between Kevin Maze, Lou Tinter, António Martínez, Jim Vineyard, and Izz al Din bin Riyad this spring for the starting job. Maze is seen as the early favorite due to his experience and partial success. Things could change as Vineyard and Martinez are expected to battle for the starting job at SS, management could possibly shift the loser of that batter to the hot corner.

Others not expected to return in 2060 are Ted 'Long Ball' Benson, Asil 'Cherry' Çölasan, and Aelbehrt 'Wunderkind' Schlöndorff who are free agents. Management reportedly hope to see Schlöndorff return, but when he was willing to negotiate a contract, we didn't have enough available funds for 2060.

Just for the record this isn’t a rebuild, maybe more of a tuneup.

Interesting that the ones you wanted back appear to have all returned. Nice work.
