Charm City 2058.8 - Best of the Minor League Teams

The regular season has ended in the BBA and the playoffs have ended in the minor leagues. Let's take a look at who our outstanding minor league hitter and pitcher of the year were for each level.

AAA - ANNAPOLIS SAILORS:

Best Hitter:
1B: Muti bin Amir goes back to back as a AAA batter of the year after winning in 2057. Amir posted a .291/.354/.491/.845 slash line in AAA this year with 25 homers and 75 RBI. He was promoted to Charm City for the September run where he chipped in with 2 hits in 6 at bats including a game winning homer in the bottom of the 8th inning vs Jacksonville on 9/11.

Best Pitcher:
Robinson Pérez takes the award for pitcher of the year in AAA. The 30 year old lost his spot on the active roster and took a step back to AAA in 2058. He took the demotion in stride posting an 8-2 record with 17 saves and a 2.51 ERA. A pending free agent at seasons end, management has an interesting choice to make with him.

AA - FREDERICK TRAVELERS:

Best Hitter:
LF - Omar Robles had an awesome year in AA before his promotion to AAA. Robles, a 2055 minor league free agent signing, posted a .346/.425/.609/1.034 slash line with 20 homers and 80 RBI for Frederick this year.

Best Pitcher:
John Mellon, like Perez above, took a step back this year. Mellon was sent to AA to work exclusively as a starting pitcher this year and responded with a 12-7 record and a 2.89 ERA in 22 starts for the Travelers this year.

A - CUMBERLAND MINERS:

Best Hitter:
2057 4th round pick OF: Mike Hauser had a short stay in Cumberland this year, but it was a very good stay while he was there. In 49 games Hauser posted a .335/.400/.492/.892 slash line with 7 homer runs and 33 RBI. Hauser finished 2058 with AAA Annapolis and will look to push for a roster spot in Charm City in 2059.

Best Pitcher:
Emílio Mora takes home the award for best pitcher in A ball. Mora posted a 6-13 record with a 4.50 ERA in 150 innings this year. We went with Mora because we liked the work ethic he showed to improve his game throughout the year.

SA - CAYMAN ISLANDERS:

Best Hitter:
Defense wins SS:Nicolai Pletnikov the award for best hitter. Pletnikov posted a respectable .271/.347/.380/.728 slash line with 4 home runs and 19 RBI. Where Pletnikov excelled was at defense where we saw him a 6.7 zone rating at SS this year.

Best Pitcher:
António Michels had an exciting 2058. He was our 2nd round draft choice this year and had an excellent debut going 4-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 12 starts posting 89 strikeouts in 88 innings of work.

R - ASSATEAGUE PONIES:

Best Hitter:
2057 2nd round pick Jesús Llado showed that his 2057 debut wasn't a mirage. Llado posted a .346/.404/.549/.953 slash line for the Ponies this year. Due to his solid work he finished 2058 in Cayman and looks to move up further in 2059.

Best Pitcher:
Félix Nodar takes home the Rookie level pitcher of the year Award. Nodar, acquired from Seattle in 2056, went 7-3 with a 3.14 ERA in 83 innings with a 0.98 WHIP. He currently ranks as the Jimmies 16th rated prospect as per the BNN ratings.
