Charm City 2058.3 - Bombshell Trade Made

Post by DaveB » Tue Feb 06, 2024 8:38 am

It was announced on March 7th, 2058 that the Charm City Jimmies trade fan favorite SS: Sammy 'Bumper' McNeill to the San Fernando Bears in exchange for prospects SS: Jose Villa, SP: Jorge Nava, LF: Ramón Rodríguez, and CF: Dallas Sly.

The shocking news was that the Jimmies were willing to deal one of the best shortstops in the league while their window was still open. GM Dave Burcicki spoke at the press conference "We're excited about the additions we made today. In order for us to be able to continue to be a contender both now and in the future, we have to make trades like this that are difficult. Bumper was not only a fan favorite, but he was also very well liked in the locker room and will be missed." A reporter from the Baltimore Sun asked "Does this trade have anything to do with Jirecek's loss at the MGM Grand back in February?" "What Mr. Jirecek does with his money on his time is his business. We considered putting McNeill on the trade block earlier this offseason due to his injury history, contract status, and our team being up against the cap" said Burcicki. The reporter from the Sun countered with "My sources are saying that Jirecek took over 12 million dollars out of the Jimmies budget shortly after the Puppy Bowl." "Again what Mr. Jirecek does with his money is Mr. Jirecek's business. We're here to discuss the exciting future of the Jimmies. If there are no other baseball questions I'd like to thank you for your time and have a wonderful day" said Burcicki.

Nava looks like a stud. It hurt to include him.

Hurt trading him to Charm City, but was under a similar predicament that he wouldn’t re-sign with me. I’m happy to have landed Lolololo in that trade and I suspect you’ll be happy with this return, as well. I still wonder what could have been had I been able to keep McNeill for the past few seasons.
