Charm City 2056.8 - Team Batter and Pitcher of the Year - Season Wrapup

Post by DaveB » Mon Oct 30, 2023 7:58 pm

Today the Charm City Jimmies announced their Batter and Pitcher of year for the 2056 season.

Batter of the Year:

C: Tokimasa Yano takes home the honor this year. Coming off a down year in 2055 Yano bounced back in a big way posting a .327/.380/.534/.914 slash line with 21 homers and 81 RBI. Yano also led our team with 5.7 WAR.

Pitcher of the Year:

No real surprise here, but Héctor Silva was named the team's pitcher of the year. Silva went 17-6 with a 3.91 ERA and a 112 ERA+. He's developed into a steady quality pitcher. I'm hoping to see him take a nice jump in performance next season.

Blunder of the Sim:

I'm sorry for those who voted for me as GM of the Year. It's to bad you couldn't do a recount. Now you might be asking yourself why would you need to rescind your vote? The answer is I had John Dawson set as our #1 starting pitcher for our playoff series versus Mexico City. Not all was terrible as we went 1-1 in the games Dawson started, but I wasn't looking to use the pen hard so early in the playoff series. What happened was I forgot to set the #1 pitcher as the next starter in the rotation. So friends still playing in the playoffs make sure you set the pitcher you want starting next as your starter.

Playoff Overview - Looking Ahead:

Well the injuries finally caught up to our team versus Mexico City. After reviewing everything I feel like we were a Hector Silva away from advancing (No offense to Mexico City, but he's our ace). In all we lost 763 days to players on the IL this year which equated to 24.28 million. The 763 days lost were 2nd only to Twin Cities. I have to say I probably bitched about this a few times, but while as frustrating as the injuries were it was also fun and really put me to the test throughout the year. It also really put the depth for the organization to the test this year which I believe is something I'll be addressing in the off season for a few positions. It's a disappointing end of the line for the roster as we currently have it. We're expecting to lose the following players to free agency Hollis 'Duck' O'Hara, Tadataka Yoshikawa, Wilson Alomar, Chuck 'Pip' Dickens, and Carlton Casson. Some of these guys we're going to try to bring back, but what they are asking for currently we are going to be unable to afford.

I had an “oh shit” moment just prior to the sim because I didn’t set pitching order. Luckily it was already set to my #1 guy or I changed it previously. 103 wins with all those injuries was impressive.

Great season regardless. It'll be fun to watch the offseason in Charm City.

You definitely would have won that series at full strength. We were just able to paper over the cracks with you hamstrung by key injuries. Get healthy and let's do it again next year.
